This is the FOYER. It's a bit barebones for the APPRENTICE's tastes, but it's not like they get a say in it! Their MASTER gets the say when it comes to decorating public spaces.
Well, I say 'public,' but the WIZARD TOWER isn't generally open to your typical wayward adventurer.
The MASTER doesn't like guests. When they show up, they're usually here to demand something of him, or wanting to slay him or some other ludicrous thing.
"The common folk simply don't understand me, it's always want, want, want!" he would say.

Anyway. Sconces line the walls of the foyer, filling the room with a dimmer, green light. The wall is made of smooth stone bricks, unlike the APPRENTICE's room, which is purely smooth.
Two sections of said wall are recessed, serving as teleportation spots for travelling to the APPRENTICE's room and one to the MASTER's room.
An unlit, dark corridor leads back into the tower. Without a light, the APPRENTICE can't really see back there at all.
The floor is engraved with a large rune that spans the entirety of the floor. The APPRENTICE has no idea what it's for, but it's Big and Yellow and Inert.
Above the APPRENTICE's head hangs an immense wizard tapestry. Depicted is a travelling ARCHMAGE, one of the APPRENTICE's MASTER's MASTER's MASTERS, long since passed.
Across the foyer is the FRONT DOOR. It has no knob nor handle, and is completely smooth. The APPRENTICE has tried to exit the tower via it a couple of times, but no amount of force made it yield.
In front of the FRONT DOOR is the CHIMERA.
